Saskatoon Aqualenes’ Awards Summary

The following is a summary of the Current Awards provided by the Saskatoon Aqualenes or by identified donors.  These awards are presented annually at the discretion of the board and coaches.

Outstanding Contribution

  • Given to a swimmer that has given all they have, consistently throughout the year.
  • They have pulled the team together, been leaders and helpers without necessarily being the strongest swimmer on the team.

Most Dedicated Swimmer

  • Awarded to a single swimmer that has demonstrated absolute dedication to the sport, and who has achieved self-set goals within the sport of synchronized swimming.
  • This individual must exhibit exemplary motivation and diligence throughout their swimming career.
  • This individual trains and goes beyond what is required by her coach and swimming program, and thrives on doing so.
  • This individual may not necessarily be the high point figure/routine score or the most successful swimmer, however they have very focused goals.
  • This individual sees synchronized swimming as one of the center points in their lives; an important aspect in their life and intends to continue swimming and being involved in the sport in the future.

Pre-Competitive (Eaton’s Trophy)

  • Awarded to a single swimmer who has demonstrated dedication to the sport. 
  • This individual must show self-motivation and diligently work to improve their skills, going beyond what is required by the coach.
  • This individual may not be the most talented or successful synchronized swimmer - but they demonstrate a strong desire to improve their skills.

Most Promising First Year Swimmer (Club Trophy) Competitive (Provincial or National Stream)

  • Given to a swimmer in their first competitive year, who shows a great deal of potential.

Most Improved Provincial and National Stream Swimmer:

  • The swimmer who has shown the most significant improvement over the competitive year.

Most Flexible Swimmer (Saunders Trophy)

  • Awarded to a swimmer who works consistently and diligently on all aspects of her flexibility both at and away from the pool.
  • She sets a good example for all other swimmers and  has shown a marked improvement in her flexibility throughout the year.

High Point Awards

  • Based on figure scores from meets through out the year.

Most Outstanding Potential

  • This award is for a swimmer who displays outstanding potential.
  • She has continually and consistently produced a high ranking in all competitions throughout the year.
  • This swimmer is a true performer and tends to stand out when performing their routines.
  • This swimmer shows future potential and a desire to excel and achieve.
  • Finally, this swimmer shows initiative and dedication to the sport of synchronized swimming.

Spirit Award (Club Trophy)

  • Awarded to a single swimmer that the other club swimmers feel has been the most congenial and spirited throughout the entire swim year.
  • Selected by the competitive swimmers.

Sunshine Award (Erinn Schneider/Tara Procyshyn Trophy)

  • Awarded to an athlete who is a pure ray of sunshine at the pool!
  • The winner of this award has an infectious positive attitude and is a joy to coach.
  • This athlete rarely complains, is eager to improve and tries anything new and, most of all, is always smiling.
  • The Sunshine award winner is someone who makes everyone's year at swimming fun and positive and is an asset to the dynamics of any group.

The SAQ Synergy Award (Margot Weiner)

Synergy:  A combined action among different parts to produce a greater whole; A cooperative union among people, standing hand in hand & shoulder to shoulder, working together toward a greater common cause.

This award is presented to any team in the SAQ club - Recreational, Provincial or National - that has consistently shown it to be a TEAM in the truest sense of the word - a group of individuals working together for the benefit of all.

  • This team - behaves generously and fairly in times of crisis and times or joy;
  • Faces and overcomes challenges;
  • Assists and supports weaker members;
  • Celebrates and congratulates each members' success
  • Strives for improvement and excellence;
  • Represents their club in a positive manner, acting as ambassadors for other club member the club and their sport.
  • The actions of all members of this team reflect their personal commitment to a greater good - beyond their individual dreams and desires.
  • Success for this team is defined by satisfaction in effort and performance rather than simple achievement.
  • This team embodies all that is best about the sport of synchronized swimming.
  • They are a shining example to their peers, their club and their sport. As such, they are to be congratulated and held in esteem!

Ruth Cooper Memorial

  • Awarded to a parent/volunteer who has served the club for a number of years, above and beyond what could be expected
  • A person who has given many hours of effort to the club.

Karen Dumas

  • Awarded to an outstanding club coach, dedicated to the sport, the club and their swimmers.

Outstanding Contribution to the Aqualenes Swimming Club

  • The recipient of this award may be a swimmer, parent, coach or person(s) or organization who makes an outstanding contribution to the Aqualenes swim club.
  • This can be in swimming achievement, dedicated work, monetary support or together contribution that the awards committee judge suitable.
  • The contribution may be over a period of 1 year or a number of years.

Vanin Fundraising

 Awarded  to  either:

  • A swimmer who has either raised the most money in a major fundraising event or has been actively involved in several club fundraising activities. or,
  • If parents handle the major fundraising events, then the award is to go a parent involved in initiating and carrying out major fundraising activities.
